Our Newest News:

Another semester down, one to go!  For Christmas break, Adam got some time off from his job and we are going to spend the holidays with our families in Wyoming...I don't think we have ever been so excited to go back home!  MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

July 2006:
The summer is flying by!!  Alison has been busy working in the lab, volunteering and making progress on her thesis.  Adam has been working working working!  We are still not quite finished with the deck, but it is getting close....we just have the railings to put on.  In our spare time, we have been mountain biking around the area, hiking, and we took a trip up to see the sailboats at the Cleveland Harbor Fest.  Jason came to visit us this last weekend and we had a great time catching up, playing board games, and visiting the Metro Park Zoo.  Here's to the rest of summer!!!

June 13:
Ok, so we have been horrible about keeping up with our website.  This semester was crazy, what with classes, teaching, house projects, and all the little things you have to deal with on a day to day basis.  In addition, Mom and Dad came to visit us in March, during Spring Break, and we had fun fixing fence (just like in Wyoming!) and going to Elmira to visit family.  Now that classes are over, Alison has been volunteering in a lab at NEOUCOM and working on her thesis...which she has changed once again (for the last time!).  We have both been busy working on the house this summer, and our biggest project is building a deck.  That is the quick and dirty version of what we have been up to lately.  Check out our recent pictures!

February 06 Update:
We have been working on household projects, mainly waterproofing the basement and starting to escape-proof the backyard for the dog. We had to cut our bed in half to get it upstairs, but hey, doesn't everybody. Check out our newest pictures.Photo Page

January update:  We bought a house!  It is really amazing, and what a process!  The house has 2 bedrooms and an office, full basement, large living room/dinning area, and a HUGE fenced back yard.  The house has many updates including remodled kitchen and bathroom, new carpet, new plumbing, new electric.  It is a little over 1000 square feet, so it is the perfect size for us.  There is a little one car garage too, but it needs a bit of work.  This summer we are going to put a deck on the back and make some improvements here and there.  It is pretty cool and we are very excited!  Check out some of the pictures

January 3rd update:  The holidays breezed by!  We were busy making arrangements to buy a house in mid December.  Finals week was crazy and of course all three finals were due on the same day!  We spent Christmas at our apartment and baked a huge Christmas dinner, and only a hand towel was sacrificed (that is very good considering our cooking talents!).  New Years was swallowed up with house planning and final closing arrangements, but it will all pay off hopefully!  We are supposed to close, if all goes well, the first week of January.  So, wish us luck!  Happy New Year!

November 27th update:  The semester is almost over!   We plan on spending Thanksgiving with Aunt Nancy, Uncle Bob, Uncle Denis, and Stephanie, so it should be a blast!  We are looking forward to getting out of Kent for a couple of days, and hopefully the snowy weather won't be too bad!  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

November 2nd update:  Adam has a new job!  He is working as a case manager for an institution that helps the mentally ill.  That means he makes sure they stay on their meds, have a place to live, food to eat, and whatever else they need to be happy.  I have survived midterms and just realized there are less than 2 months left to the semester, which means I really have to kick into gear!  The trees are FINALLY starting to turn, and we are enjoying the last few days of sunshine we are expected to get for the next few months.  Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!

September Update:  Classes are in full swing.  I am enjoying them so far, although it is going to be a tough semester.  I am taking cell biology, bioanthropological statistics II, and paleoanthropology.  I am working on a topic for my thesis, and have one good lead so far.  Will have to see how it works out.  Adam is getting job interviews daily now, but until something comes through he is working as a security guard at an office building in downtown Akron.  The cat and dog are good.  They love to play together and daily get more and more bold with each other.  Fezzik is quite a guard cat, eveytime someone knocks on the door he runs up to it and starts growling.  It is really funny!  Other than that, we have been meeting new people and learning more and more about the area.

August 28th Update:  School starts tomorrow!!!  (Aug. 29th)  Can't believe it!  Not much new, but I did add some pictures of the cat and of some of the scenery we see on our walks in the park.

August 5th Update:  We got a cat!!  We got him from the Ravenna animal shelter and he was brought in as a stray.  He's a pretty cool cat.  He gets along with Sanity really well, is very calm, loving, and is almost more dog than cat.  He also likes to sleep in Sanity's crate, we'll see how that goes!  We haven't named him yet, but we have a couple of ideas.  The pound's name for him was Mohammed, which fits because he is so big!  But we aren't sure if we want to keep that name or not.

August 4th:  We said our good-byes to family and friends in Wyoming and then were off to a shakey start!  After having dinner Friday night at a friends house (the night before we were leaving and hauling the full u-haul trailer) we broke down on the way home.  The grounding wire had come loose and blown a fuse, also making the jimmy stall out and we couldn't go above 10mph.  We made it to a gas station, found a fuse (they must have been gold plated fuses because they cost an arm and a leg!) and crossed our fingers that the fuse would reset and correct the horrible problems the jimmy was having.  Miraculously, it did fix it!!!  Saturday, after running the last of our chores and getting a proper mechanism to attach the grounding wire to the trailer, we nervously headed up the pass out of Laramie.  Amazingly, and much to our relief, we made it up the pass no problem and it was smooth sailing all the way to Ohio!!!  What a long drive, but it was alright...although we did add an hour and a half on to the trip thinking a little detour on Highway 30, south of Chicago, would be quicker than going I-80 through Chicago.  Silly mistake, and a really up-scale neighborhood...yeah right!  To make a long drive short, we pulled into Kent at 4 am on Monday, what a relief!  After sleeping for four hours (check-out time) we went and got all the details for our apartment.  Ever since, we have been unpacking, shopping for the things we left behind in Laramie and can't live without, and exploring the area.  So far we are enjoying ourselves and like Kent, although it is quite different from Wyoming!!!

July's Update:  Adam has received two job offers as a youth worker, both are a short commute from Kent.  He has chosen one that is less driving (only about 40 miles away) with better benefits.  I signed up for classes last week and it is a miracle that I only have to buy two books with a course load of 15 credits!!  We are getting very excited as all the details fall into place.  Only 6 more days of work since we are taking off early to spend some time in Lander with family and friends.

June's updateWe found an apartment!  It is a block from campus, so it will be easy to get to and from classes, and they have no problem with our dog Sanity (that was a tough one!  no one likes pets these days!!).  We only have 2 months to go-- we are planning on moving the end of July to arrive in Kent the beginning of August.

May's update:
Alison was accepted to Kent State University in Ohio and to the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  After a visit to Kent, we decided that KSU would be the best option and we are planning on moving in August!  Click the logos on this page to take you to the KSU website and sites about Kent and surrounding areas.
